The
sensual beauty of the Cello and the classic sophistication of the
Piano blend perfectly to create the quintessential allure that is
Strelitzia.
Strelitzia gives you the best of both worlds –
the elegance and class of the Cello and Piano performing beautiful
classical music, as well as the charm of classic Jazz, the buzz of
Broadway and the vitality and soul of contemporary favourites from
The Beatles to Ben Folds, and everything in between.
Strelitzia can provide featured or background
entertainment tailored to any event, and can also organise and perform
with singers or extra instrumentalists. Strelitzia is known for providing
personalised, flexible and professional entertainment for a wide variety
of audiences and is perfect for adding a touch of style and excitement
to any event.
Strelitzia is a duo of two talented and vibrant young
women – Eleanor Betts (Cello) and Lindsay Gilroy (Piano) are
both First Class Honours graduates of the Sydney Conservatorium of
Music, and have been performing together for the past seven years.
They
have been described as “…a duo of highly gifted musicians
which exhibit
performances of continuous distinction…an impressive talent
worth nurturing” (North Shore Times) and have impressed and
captivated audiences all over NSW and further afield. In mid 2008
they traveled overseas to perform and study with many internationally
renowned artists on full scholarship at the Toronto Summer Music Festival
in Canada and were highly praised for their skillful, passionate and
musically exciting performances.
The girls have been
invited to perform at numerous high profile events, such as the launch
of the Australian of the Year in 2005, the 2005 Pink Ribbon Breakfast,
the 2006 Annual Conference of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects,
and events such as An Elegant Diversion at Vaucluse House for the
Historic Houses Trust.
While maintaining a busy concert schedule in Sydney,
the duo is also in demand for performances at corporate events, private
functions and weddings. Equally at home performing on stage, TV or
radio, both women have extensive experience in almost all the major
function centres, churches and performance spaces in Sydney and have
performed in live broadcasts for Channel 9, the ABC, SBS and 2MBS-FM. |
